The Court will hold public hearings at its seat, the Peace Palace in The Hague, on the request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by Sudan in the case concerning the Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in Sudan (Sudan v. United Arab Emirates) on Thursday 10 April 2025.

On Thursday 20 March 2025, HE Mr David van Weel, Minister of Justice and Security of the Netherlands, paid a courtesy visit to the Court. Mr van Weel was welcomed by the President, the Registrar, and the Deputy-Registrar. On 6 March 2025, Guyana filed in the Registry of the Court a Request for the indication of provisional measures in the case concerning the Arbitral Award of 3 October 1899 (Guyana v. Venezuela).

By an Order of 27 February 2025, the Court extended to 28 July 2025 and to 28 May 2026, respectively, the time-limits for the filing of the Reply of Equatorial Guinea and the Rejoinder of France in the case concerning the Request relating to the Return of Property Confiscated in Criminal Proceedings (Equatorial Guinea v. On 5 March 2025, Sudan filed an Application instituting proceedings against the United Arab Emirates before the Court with regard to a dispute concerning alleged violations by the UAE of its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in relation to the Masalit group in Sudan, most notably in West Darfur, and has requested the Court to indicate provisional measures.

The President fixed 28 February 2025 as the time-limit within which written statements on the questions may be presented to the Court, in accordance with Article 66, paragraph 2, of the Statute.

The public hearings on the request for an advisory opinion on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change concluded on 13 December 2024. The Court will now begin its deliberation. Its advisory opinion will be delivered at a public sitting, the date of which will be announced in due course.
